Tyres and accomadation in Magadan

Hi all,
2 of us are going to be in Magadan last week of July and I'm looking to see if it's better to get tyres there or to ship with bikes.
We will be looking for Pirelli MT21 90/90/21 and Dunlop 140/80/18.
Also does anyone have contact details or location for accomadation with secure bike area?

Cheers

Mark
p.s will be riding the old summer road east to west if anyone wants to join in.

You will not find moto tyres in Magadan. Better to take them with (why not on?) the bike depending on where you are coming from.

Hotel Magadan was reasonable and central. There was a posher hotel just round the corner (I forget the name).
There was an independant secure, guarded car park about 5 minutes walk away. The hotels will direct you.

Thanks for the reply Tony,
We are using up our existing enduro tyres and are going to change over to fresh ones in Magadan or at the start of the old summer road. A new set should see us through the rough stuff then we can opt for more road bias tyres for the rest of the ride.
Maybe we will just have to strap them on for the begining of the journey.

Thanks for the information.

Mark

This guy Dean has shipped tires in Russia to many on the HUBB:

buy@motorezina.ru
MOTOREZINA.RU - свежая моторезина по разумным ценам. motokolesa, мотоколеса, моторезина, резина для мотоциклов

I ordered tires from him for delivery in Yakutsk, no problems.

I don't know if he has what you want, or if he can ship to Magadan, but you should check because it will be a lot easier than carrying them with you.

Plus 1 for Dennis. And if you ask he can supply other consumables also.

Dean/Denis only supples moto tyres in the normal course of things but he helps out riders in distress whenever he can.

He supplies tyres delivered to the Russian cities listed on his WebSite, that does not include Magadan.

The central/eastern cities where he has agents are Vladivostock (hence "depending on where you are coming from" in post 2), Khabarovsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Novosibirsk.

For the first time disagreeing with Motoreiter ( - good curry last night !), he does not have his own agent in Yakutsk - although he can use other people's.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
