Kirgistan question

Hi folks
In July we will travel by bikes and Defender in Kirgistan.
I have question about better road over Lake Issyk-Kul. Is is north or south side?
I think that south is less travel and more quiet, but I really don't know what to choose.

Thanks

Bartosz

hi,
if you mean nice for better road along the yssyk kul i would say south. more wild (road conditons too) and less trsffic then the north route. i would also to suggest not to miss the song kol lake on the road to naryn. it is an absolute must to see.

Thumbs up The Sunny Side of the Lake

HI Bartosz
I agree with Nicoletti. We preferred the south side, the north side is much more developed though if chubby, sunburnt Musocvites frolicking in their Speedos is your idea of good scenery then head that way.
Otherwise, go south. We found a couple of places that were nice to just camp out on the sandy beaches, swimming in the lake each day, camp fires in the evening and we didn't see anybody else - my idea of bliss.

I'd also say ditto to the suggestion about Song Kul and its beautiful lake, chilly at 3000 metres with a refreshing feel if you dare to have a morning swim

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
