Hi There,

I have done it on the old and new models, the problems I have had are:

07 model. Front sock gave up just before Russia, about 16,000 miles on the clock but managed to get to Atyrau.

On a new 09 model The only problems I have had is the two screen fastenings have gone and also lost four of the six nuts that hold the top box bracket on. Brand new bike but did do around 900 kms off road (but that is why I bought it!)

I have to say that on both occasions when I have contacted BMW they were not much help as their policy is that they need to see the bike before any warranty claims are processed. So although I love the bike I will not be buying another BMW, especialy as I spend most of my time in remote locations nowhere near a BMW dealer.

Do you know of a manufacturer who does not need to see the bike before processing a warranty claim? if so i'd be interested in them. It would save a lot of hassle.

No problems about meeting up just give me a shout when you are next in town, I am generally here but do go to Aktau every couple of weeks for a night or two.
We are taking the 3 bikes for a spin tomorrow, have to get it in berfore the ice comes.
Have fun and hope you sort a bike out soon.
