How many kilometers from Vlad to Europe? And others!

Hello!

I'm trying to figure out how far it is from Vladivostok to Norway. I am looking for a rough figure, not down to the meter!
If you have ridden In this part of the world and you know how far it is between two cities other then the stated pleas post it here!

I think a lot of people will find this helpful!

Thanks Tom

I did this in 2008.

Hannes from Finland said it was about 3800km (you have to loop up then down) from Irkutsk to the Finland border. (bad roads)

By my reckoning

Irkutsk to Ulan Ude - 450km
Ulan Ude to Chita - 350km
Chita to Khabavosk about 2000km
Khabavosk to Vlad 750km

The road is much improved now so you can do it faster. Chita to Khabavosk took me about 6 days last time, this is because the road was incomplete and I also made a detour towards Tynda and got about 20+ punctures.

Minor correction: Ulan Ude to Chita is about 650 km - its 1100 km from Irkutsk to Chita

Hannes would have misestimated that ... Irkutsk to Novosibirsk alone is about 1950 km ... then NovoSibirsk to Moscow is 3700km ... then Finnish border another 800 odd. So thats about 6500km ... maybe you could trim it to 6000km by going more direct and skipping Moscow.

The Train from Vlad to Moscow is about 9300 km ... there is no reason to believe the road is much different in length.
Moscow to London is about another 2500 km

So Vlad to London you are looking at the bare minimum 12,000 km assuming no diversions from the main highway

Hello!

I thought it was a bit to short with 3800 km's!

So if one ads 4000 km's for diversions and calculates that it is a bit shorter to Oslo then London, it would add up to 15000 km's for a trip like this! Give and take a little!

That makes it easier to plan and figure out a rough daily riding distance!

Thanks for your help!

If any other has some distances to shear , pleas do.

Vladivostok - Norway

Hej Tomlen!

Your fellow countryman "Ohota" (username on ADVrider.com) did exactly this trip in 2008. See From Vladivostok, Russia to Norway - ADVrider for full ride report.

On this post you will also find some links to old-style distance tables: ADVrider - View Single Post - Long Way Back Home from Korea through Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan to Finland

It is a fantastic trip! Just do it!

It's blooming miles and the ride from Vlad - Chita is godawful. well not that bad but if you get the chance, head south after Baikal and get into Mongolia, down to Kyrg and Tajikistan - simply stunning.
