Hotelreservations required to enter Russia?

Hello to you all.

The organization in Sweden that issues Carnets told me that I need to show hotelreservations for every night I intend to travel through Russia. Have anyone any experience from this? If this is true travelling through Russia will be alot of hassle.

Drive safe.

You used to have to do this. You must still state which places you will visit on your visa application but not the dates or hotels or hotel bookings. My visa app had many towns listed, yet the invitation was 3 nights in St Pete and 27 in Moscow. Once inside its no problem to go anywhere.

I had a 30 day tourist visa with a LOI from St Petersburg International Hostel. Must state date and location of entry and exit points, visa starts from those dates. You cannot extend the tourist visa under any circumstances, and overstaying is big trouble.

You dont need a carnet to enter Russia.

If you've got a business visa and you don't register anywhere in russia, it's not a big problem. I had to pay about 30 USD penalty and had to write a letter like why I didn't register myself in a hotel. And one stamp is usually enough. You'd have to register within three working-days when you enter russia.
