Me and my wife are back home again after a fantastic ride from Sweden thru Finland -St.Petersburg all the way to Vladivostock at two Harley powered low to the ground Chopper Trikes.

My question is do someone out there know if someone else male or female have done a ride from St.Petersburg to Vladivostock at Harley Powered Chopper Trikes before?

I am curious to know!

What is it with Scandinavians and trikes? Are the winters so long you just have time to dream up this kind of thing?:thumbup1:

How about some pictures of the rear drive and suspension.

You are absolute right! The winters here are very long included the long grey and rainy autumn and springtime.

If I didn´t had to work to earn money I would spend every winter on the roads somewhere else in the world...but I never give up building my own motorcycles and trikes!!

I buildt the rear axles myself and the svingarm at the black bike..at the red bike I buildt the complete frame my self.

The suspension is softail style.

He probably didn't go as far as you did, but Vladimir Putin's definitely ridden part of the way - Video: Vladimir Putin rides a Harley Davidson with a biker gang in Russia - Telegraph

for putin it was just a part of pre-elections show-off - a short goldwing ride at Sevastopol Bike show organised by authorities-affected Night Wolves MG Msk

great trip you've done. it would be nice to read more, 'cos trikes are popular in Ukraine but very rare in Siberia. how did people react?

As far as I know you two are the only ones ,, crazy enough to have done it on pair or strange looking custom job trike.
Many have done the trip ,, 20 Korean Harleys from Korea to Poland in 07,, six this year to Ulan Ude and Baikal.
Good job ,, !

Thank you all for your answers!!
It is very difficult to find something to do that nobody else done before in these days, so it would be great fun if we are the first to cross Russia at Harley powered Chopper trikes or at least that my wife is the first female who have done this!!

Yes it is crazy to cross Russia on these kind of bikes and that is the reason we choosed to ride our Trikes instead of my adventure bike!

We had great fun as we got so much positive respons from friendy russian people every day!!

I plan to write about this adventure as soon as I got all my photos and memories in orden...it might take a while.:mchappy:

Great Bikes!
I crossed Russia on a 62 HD panhead chopper in 09, and this summer, went to Magadan on a sportster.
The road across Russia is in much better shape now, in fact the far eastern part is now all paved, and to euro standards.
I hit a total of maybe 50km of bad road this year, but that should be fixed this winter. You will hit the occasional bad spot/potholes which will be harder to avoid on a trike, so be careful.
As for your question, I dont know of anyone thats done it on bikes like yours, so yes, it should be a first!
The Russian bikers will love it, plan to be detained alot, and to meet ALOT of people!
Of course you will be stopped by the police, but not for anything bad, they will just want to see the trikes & get their pictures taken on them!
(just make sure you dont cross the solid white center lines, or speed thru the towns)
If you are on the main road, the farthest stretch without fuel is about 250km.
I'll probably be back in RU next year on my old shovelhead, so maybe see you there :)
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, I've crossed Russia 4 times.

Doug

Yes we did the ride this summer! It was really difficult to avoid the pot holes and bumps with these Chopper Trikes who has parralell short suspension at the rigid rear axle and low to the ground clerance. three wheels in cymetric position makes the chance to hit the potholes, bumps and big rocks at roadworks triple compare a 2 wheeler....

Due to vacation problems we did not have time to spend with the Russian bikers so we only meet a few.

The Russians was taking photos allmost everytime we stopped and even from their cars in the traffic!

I wrote a story about this adventure that I plan to put at this webbsite together with photos as soon as one of my friends who are used to write in English has checked my text.
