Google maps and the Road of Bones

I travelled the Road Of Bones last year (www.etribes.com/markstowe).
I have used google maps to navigate around the UK (www.maps.google.com)

However...if i put my trip into google maps i come up with this:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...13497&t=h&om=1
This is the T junction where the really bad bit of the Road of Bones finishes and turns into a maintained dirt road to Magadan. Travel east for a trip along the Road of Bones (although, i think the high quality images finish).

This is where we were stuck at the flooded river for three days. You can see the bridge that no longer spans the whole river.

Hotel Magadan

Truly amazing......

Good point, MarkCh.

The photo marks Prospekt Lenina (Проспект Ленина). Hotel Magadan is at 8 Ulitsa Proletarskaya (ул Пролетарская) which, I believe, is the dark building opposite the bus station after going 300m north-east, turning right and 50m on right.

"BM-Tsentralnaya Hotel", I remember the two big bold blue BM letters on the side of the building above the entrance. I stopped in for a visit for some info on Magadan but didn't stay there as it was a bit expensive (I ride a KLR). I stayed at Hotel Magadan for ten days waiting for my bike to arrive, modest though clean.

Excellent - now all you need is mobile internet access in siberia and you need never purchase a paper map again. Interesting that google maps seem to have higher res images than I remember google earth having - though I admit it changes all the time.
Rgds

How cool is that? makes it nice and easy to check out road conditions before you go :-) Takes away a bit of the 'adventure' though !
