Yegor and Ilia

Went to the official KTM dealer with my Suzuki DR650RS and got recommended this mechanic called Ilia. Even though his relatively young age, you directly noticed that he knew his shit. Extremely meticulous and methodical, cleaning everything twice etc. Not expensive either. The type of mechanic that actually knows how to repair something, rather than just order new parts and replace.

His friend Yegor (sharing the garage) also has a scooter rental, which comes really handy in Almaty when you don't have a bike!

Yegors number: +7 (705) 963-33-42
Address: Auezov St 14А, Almaty 050026, Kazakhstan
Google plus coordinates: 8JMR7W32+8M (copy paste into google maps)

You may notice that some streets in Almaty have "no motorcycles" signs on them (in the central zone plus Al-Farabi out towards the airport). I'm reliably informed the law that brought these in was repealed some years ago but nobody took the signs down, so be prepared to have discussions with the local police who are notorious for asking for bribes. Demanding a receipt for a spot fine normally deters them :)

The information is outdated. Guys and girls, there no need to afraid the signs in Almaty, they are in the past (i hope)) Few months ago they were removed from the streets.

They were still there when I left at the end of June, so this must have happened quite soon after. Good news anyway, it was a stupid law!

It was in the end of June if i remember correctly. But you can believe me i'm doing that way every day where the sings were placed. You right the law was stupid. This is only one city which i know with such law. And may be Tashkent in the center, near Government buildings (don't know current situation there, but can check).
