Driving through Aral sea

We are planning for summer June Finland-August tour to Russia-Kazakhstan-Mongolia-Russia-Finland and we will pass Aral sea during our voyage. We are looking for a option to drive in dried seabed of Aral sea.

Does anyone know route which is in map:

There should be drivable road all the way to Kökaral. We have been planning to continue from there over Syr-Darja and to Bögeni. Satelite pictures show there is some kind of bridge over river and possibly ferry also. We will also ask from local people as we have one who speaks fluent russian and i speak some russian.

Has anyone driven there and knows if that is drivable?

Hi Tirpse

I have not driven the route you are asking about but I have driven around the Aral sea in parts.

I would say be VERY careful if going near the dry seabed. As we found out, you will sink very quickly! We were stuck for over a day and it took a 6x6 Kamas to pull us free. The sandy tracks close to the shore are fine, but get too close and you will soon have trouble.

Have a great trip it looks like an interesting route.

I was checking some satelite pictures from Google map to get general idea of terrain and it seems our planned route would take us over big dam build there to stop disapperance of remaining water.

It seems at least from satelite pictures that from dam leaves big roads to east.
