cyrillic alphabet

I have just scanned a phonetic guide to the cyrillic alphabet for another member. if you would like to have a copy of this (which also includes key questions) then PM me your email address as it is too big to post on here.

I just lashed out about AU$80 for a 10 langauge electronic translator which includes cyrillic - very handy I hope, has words and phrases. Although I'm still struggling with why I would need to say "I will be your slave for the rest of my life" - maybe the Russian Mafia??

you'd be suprised!!
better than I managed trying to teach myself
'niet moi chimodan, eta moi sabarka'
It is not my suitcase, it is my dog!!

Correct:
"Eto ne chemodan, eto moya sobaka" :-)

Although not a translation source, I found http://www.translit.ru/# useful in understanding the Cyrillic alphabet via a PC keyboard.

Once you see many Russian words in Roman alphabet form they become understandable.

a little like the french I practiced on a van driver about a month ago on the paris ring road,
'avez vous un problem chien breath'
followed by
'vous est un garlic manger wxxxxx!'
it doesn't matter if the grammer is right as long as the feeling is there!!

It's not legal but

A friend of mine, lets call him Cornishdevil, used bit torrent and bitlord (look them up if your not familiar) to download pimsleurs 'Think and Talk Russia'. This is a massive 100, 30 minute, audio lessions. They seem pretty good as well.

If you are unfamiliar all you need to do is

1. Search for and download bitlord
2. Use google to search on 'pimsleur russian torrent'
3. Download this torrent, which will start automatically in BitLord
4. Wait about 24 hours (assuming a broadband connections), and bingo it theres.

BitLord is similar, but more secure and safer with no spyware, to bearshare, napster etc etc. Not legal, but then neither is serving alcohol to someone who is drunk. And that happens to me everyday :)

theres every chance I am doing something stupid here but when I click on the download this torrent tab, it just downloads a very small file that windows doesn't recognise. ant tips?

CornishDaddy 9 Jan 2007 22:49

Need the client first

I think the problem may be that you haven't downloaded the client first ...

If you go here you can download it. I think it must, during set up associate the torrents file name extension with bit lord.

http://www.bitlord.com/download.php

Once you have it working you can use it to download anything you can find, including software, music and er adult stuff.

Great for music though, as you get a full album neatly packaged up rather than indivual songs. So Cornishdevil tells me anyhow....

Good luck, and if it stilll isn't working ask away, and I'll try and help.

Happy downloading!
