Crossing into Kazakhstan form Russia

Greetings,
I am planning to cross into Kazakhstan to go Almaty from Russia - East side (Ulan-Ude) side by car.
How are the roads?
Are there enough gas stations?
How long is the road?

To Kazakhstan? Almaty? From Ulan-Ude? Do you mean realy Kazakhstan or Mongolia? On Russsia side is bigger city Barnaul.
Otherwise roads on this direct are without bigger problems, fuel too....
