Autumn in the Pamirs
 

I'm already planning my route, for when i can go back, pick up my bike in Almaty and finish my trip. Hoping to be fit to ride at the start of October.

Anyone know what the weather is typically like on the Pamir highway at that time?

General route would be to do the pamirs, the stans, iran, and then across southern europe.

I can cope with cold, i just can't ride through deep snow!

it will be cold.

I was in the stans in October in 2009 ... didnt go to the Pamir ... think it would have been way too cold. I was in Almaty for the first half of October, which was OK, but my trip for the year ended in Astana which was -11 C (about 10F) by 25th of October ... and thats down on the plains, not up in the mountains.

PS ... And there was ice and snow on the roads.

Checked the guest books in the houses I stayed in. Latest entry was mid October.
