Anybody recently crossed Ereentsav border Mongolia to Russia?

In 2012 we crossed Tashanta RUS/MON border and Altanbulag/Katha MON/RUS border.

Now we are planning our 2014 trip and prefer to exit Mongolia at the Ereentsav/Solovyovsk MON/RUS border : N49 53.144 E115 44.531

Info about this crossing is hard to find, one of the forum members crossed with a bike a few years ago.

Some info says it is only for Russians and Mongolians, some info says it his international border crossing. Closed for all is also often mentioned.

Any info welcome!

I did it in 2010, and someone else did it this year (2013). if I recall, someone also did it in 2012 and in 2011 there was an American and a French guy that crossed on motos.

Which info says its only for Mongolians and Russians? I have never seen that and I can assure you its wrong.

On the Russian border service website it is listed as a multilateral (not bilateral) crossing. i.e. its fully international. And it has said that for years. I only tried the crossing after reading it was an international crossing on both the Russian and Mongolian government web sites. Plus foreign bikers have crossed it every year since 2010.

Its very quiet and very remote, but it is an international border crossing.

For more info, look into this thread. It has a lot of info on the international Mongolian vehicle border crossings, including maps, and including specifically the Ereentsav crossing. The map on post 18 (the 2nd page) of that thread is the only one I would trust with regards to Mongolian border crossings.

Note some sites have info on it that does not seem to be accurate:

Mongolian Border Control and Ports : InfoMongolia.com : News and information about Mongolia, Mongolian language lessons

lists a number of other crossings between Mongolia and Russia, specifically at Mondy and Khandagaity that may (or may not) be deemed to be international crossings by the Mongolians. I know there are plans to internationalise both of those crossings, but as of yet, the Russian Border website is listing them both as bilateral crossings at this time. So regardless of what the Mongolians do or do not think about the status of a particular border, in any case you will not be able to cross it if the Russians will not let you enter or exit there.

Here is the Russian Border Service list of crossings:
http://www.rosgranitsa.ru/sites/defa...heckpoints.pdf

See land crossings #96 for Mondy and #169 for Khandagaity. In the final column for both it notes that the border WILL become an multilateral crossing at some time in the future. no date given. i.e. the info in the link above seems to incorrect.

#144 is Solovyovsk (the Russian side of Ereentsav) ... and if you needed further confirmation that it is an international border crossing, it is there in the 5th column where you will see the word "многосторонний" which means multilateral, as opposed to "двусторонний" which means bilateral.
