Parking in Moscow

Hello

We will be in Moscow in the next 2 weeks or so and want to park our 4x4 somewhere safe while we spend a few days in a guesthouse/hotel etc. Does anyone know of a safe place where you can park for a few days where they have a guard all the time, or is it common to find parking like that? GPS co-ord would be really helpful:innocent:

Cheers

Cant give you GPS co ordinates but there are plent of secured guarded car parks in Moscow and St Petersburg and if your staying in the mainstream hotels they will have the facility also I think last time I was there it was about $5.00 day for a car in the public guarded parks(but they would not take bikes) and the hotel was about $2.00 in the hotel car park.

EVERY hotel in Msk has a SECURE PARKING.
there is NO HOTELS WITHOUT it. even hostels have guarded places to keep a car/bike.
the same works for SPb.
the only question is staying in a flat but in this case it's owners duty to fing a parking.
give me direction you're coming from i'll find a sutable hotel

Hi motobelka

Thanks for your offer of some help. We will be coming in from the west (from Vladimir/Suzdal). We think we will be in Moscow around 15 December.

Someone else recommended the Lenina hostel. We looked at it on hostelworld, but they don't list any parking with their facilities. Any knowledge re this place?

Thanks:thumbup1:

pumbaa,
"lenina hostel" in Msk sounds like " Hotel americana" in NY - i dont know the place. it's 15 million city there are hundreds of hotels. the price for DBL in the city starts from $50 for real shit and is around $100 for a decent place. what sum are you ready to spend and how long you gonna stay?

motobelka 8 Dec 2008 16:45

i found the place. that is what we call "a flat" so the owner knows where is the nearest parking. but mind it's not "the very" but "historical city center" so it's really tough to find a public parking place there. and the building itself faces the Garden ring - no possibility to leave the car outside and i'm not sure there is a spare place in the yard( but there may be the owner said) the yard is not guarded. there is some guarded parking lot in a 10-min walk but she is not sure about the price. call her +7 (910)420-3446 tomorrow ask yourself/

if you are really worried about the car safety i still recommend to stay in a hotel with a parking lot ( but it will cost). metro is a perfect way to travel to the city center.

and mind if you gonna stay at lenin DO NOT enter the city by Gorkovskoye motorway. you should go: Gor'kovskoe-MKAD(go counterclockwise)- Yaroslavskoye motorway(enter the city)- Garden ring (turn left) - 500m on your right is the hostel.

Update

Just a quick update for those looking for a good place to stay in Moscow.

We found a hostel called HM Hostel Moscow, located very close to the Kremlin. There is street parking and a security guard from the restaurant below will keep an eye on our car (should hopefully be ok). A 10 bed mixed dorm is RR600 per person. The place is very nice and neat, and I think there is only 1 other guy in the room with us. You can find it on hostelword.com

I will get a waypoint later on if someone wants it.

Cheers

Pumbaa and motobelka we'd be interested in either of those addresses/waypoints .... coming through in May and hope to stay a night or two in Moscow.
