Vancouver suzuki mechanic

Hi there,

I am in need of a local Suzuki shop (or good bike mechanic) here in Vancouver.
The shop I have been using has about crossed the line for me.

A comment was made that if I am going to buy only parts from him, than I should be a good enough mechanic to answer my own questions.
I have purchased near $800 in parts from him and have had a compression test and carb clean done there as well. I would hope to get better customer service than this.
I am young (24) and this will be my first ride over 5000km ( I will be doing around 20,000km) and what I was hoping for was a little support and advice to put my green mind at rest.
I recieved none of this, and I am preparing to leave in three weeks, and need some clutch work done on my 79 Suzuki GS400.

any help or advice would be appreciated,

Dean

What mileage is on the cycle right now? That scoot is 25yrs old, insurable as an antique. Probably sold new for what you put into it in parts. The dealer may be giving you the hint you are sinking way too much money into that bike. In mountainous terrain, a 400 loaded up is border-lining on dangerous, I'd get a 750 for touring.
what's wrong with the clutch? slack off the cable to see if that helps... but a clutch job by a shop will be even more expensive

cheap fix may be to put washers on the clutch basket springs and tighten it up some. That won't help if it's burnt (driven too long with slipping)
