Taking UK bike from US into Canada

Can anyone advise the process for taking our UK registered bike from the USA into Canada on a temporary import?

From the research I have done, it seems that some paperwork has to be completed at the border, but the form is not online

Any advice much appreciated

I've done this twice at two different border crossings. That is, on a UK-registered bike - south to north.

1. September-1 2007: Chief Mountain - Montana into Alberta
2. May-22 2008: Niagara Falls - New York into Ontario.

Back then it wasn't a problem on either occasion. Just rocked-up on the bike with passport, V5C certificate and evidence of motor insurance and I was over and in.

Any forms that were required they supplied, although I don't re-call there being too much (if any) onerous temp importation paperwork. The process couldn't have been quicker or less painless. Charming Canuk border officials ..

June 2007, show passport, pay $6CAD, ride across

Sept 2010, get bike out of crate in Toronto, pay $47CAD "dirt" inspection, hit road.

Basically it seems very easy. No EPA stuff needed

It depends what you're doing after America...
I just criss-cross between Canada and the States (the last two summers) and the American Customs haven't said anything - though maybe that is a bit naughty.
If you're then shipping out of the States to go elsewhere, you will probably need some confirmation that you temp imported in on a certain date, but I managed to get round that one as well- I needed to as my bike had been there for more than 12 months.

Basically no-one ever stops me about the bike, they will input the bike reg number in their computer, or at least I think that's what they're doing. But they have not asked me to fill in a form.

We've crossed the US and Canadian borders several times with our german registered bikes and there was never any paperwork required for the bikes - easy :thumbup1:

I crossed between USA and Canada four times and they never asked me for any bike paperwork or to fill in a form.

The only times the bike was even mentioned was at the Top of the World crossing in Alaska where the Canadian woman asked if I intended on selling it in Canada and in Montana where the customs dude asked to buy it!!

When you say 'temporary import' do you mean the bike will be staying in Canada for a period of time say six months, or do you mean as a 'visitor' say to visit Niagara Falls?

If it's the latter, there's no problem whatsover. Just turn up at the crossing with your docs, and ride though. If it's the former, I cannot help you.

Easy

Rode across the border today and it was very easy. No need to show UK docs and insurance. Was asked if I was leaving anything in Canada, I said No and was on my way.
