selling an european registered motorcycle in USA

As I understodd there are no problem for a temporary importation of an european registered motorcycle in USA.

Nevertheless, as my BMW GS 1100 is already 9 years old, I'm wondering if to sell it in USA after the trip is more profitable than to ship it back paying the high price of the plane.

Have you guys an idea if is possible to sell it and/or the taxes I have to pay for it?

Thanks a lot
Pietro

You should have no problems in the selling of the bike.
In the U.S. the buyer pays any tax that may be incurred. Some states like California, will require smog equipment on the bike. Just make sure to sell the bike to someone outside of California.
Best of luck,
kp

Its is not that easy. Do a search on this site for "import".
US Customs website has most of the info you need:
http://www.customs.ustreas.gov/imp-e...formal/car.htm
They changed the site above and I could not find the info. chech the site below.
