A lot of companies rule out "overland" trips now, in the past we used WorldWideInsure, but they wanted double the rate for this trip because of the bikes.

We used America Express, very reasonable. IMO

Also try Carole Nash, I think they do it for the US nw as well.

Just bought our insurance for our trip to the States in April/May from UK operaters (they exhibit at the NEC Bike Show) Temporary US Motorcycle Insurance Programme This link will give you quote facilities for insuring the bike and at the bottom of the page is a linl for medical/repatriation insurance.I have spoken to David Grist at HC Travel (a biker himself) and he assures me that this policy will cover unpaved road travel as well. We have purchased 6 months cover for our round world trip (first 2 months in the States) and the cost is £473 for the 6 months). The bike insurance was a bit expensive but we have gone for the full cover option at 660 dollars for 2 months (incl Canada). You can get it much cheaper by going Third party only but as we are in the States I wanted full cover for my medicals etc.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
