Post RIDE FOR PEACE - Welcome to America

Having completed my trip thru Asia, Africa and Europe, I intend to continue my journey to North America, Central America, South America and Australia.

I dedicated my trip to worldwide peace, though maybe it's just a big dream that will never come true but at least there are a lot of people I met are happy to live in peace and harmony.

Indeed “Ride For Peace” is not always had a peace experience. Sometime plans didn’t go the way we want… Being robbed while pass Afghanistan and lost my motorbike when it parked infront of the hotel near police station in Amsterdam, become apart of the journey…

It’s a hard time but I survived… I got a new friend name "Silver Line", it’s a Silver R1150GS Adventure 2002, similar with my stolen bike. I back to the road and ride from Western tip of Europe thru’ TRANS SIBERIA wilderness till Vanino Harbour in Eastern tip of Russia. Jump to Japan by ferry from Sakhalin Island, Russia and then across to Busan, Korea from Shimonosheki Harbour.

Finally, I arrived in Vancouver, Canada, the 77th country last week. My motorbike ‘Silver Line’ will arrive here next week. (Oct 18th, 2012). I know, it’s getting too cold to ride, specially for me as a tropical man but the show must go on. From Vancouver, I will riding east to New York to visit my friends and riding west across the legend ‘Route 66’ to LA.

Then continue my venturing trip to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, by sailing boat from Puerto Lindo to Cartagena, Colombia, Equador, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, cross to Australia and back home to Indonesia in 2015.

Any information or recomendation about nice route, campsite, budget lodging along my journey are welcome…. Any rider want to join, meet or share the experiences are welcome… All information are value and I really appreciated it…

Keep your wheels rollin' and see you somewhere in this planet...

The Road May End, but Not the Spirit of Adventure and Peace…

Hi Jeffrey
We met at the Oasis GH in UB this summer. You also tagged me on Facebook on a picture of a bunch of horses!

If you haven't already done so, maybe also leave a message on advrider.com and with the BMWMOA (do they still have their owners anonymous book?). They tend to be more Canada/US-centric.

cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,

Glad to see you here,,, How's your bike (with skull) ? Yeeah that's a good times in UB...

I'm in Vancouver right now.. Last week I met Moritz & Heike, German couple who rode with me to UB. Now, they are on the way to NY.

My bike still stuck in Korea...

I just got an email from my shipper, last quotation from my motorcycle shipments from Korea to Vancouver was USD 7.132 ... this is a robbery ...

I tried using seafreight and quotation is USD 4.600, ... It's also very expensive ...

I think the bike is in the crate made by the shipper, they said the dimension is 260 X 140 X 200 cm

A bit tired think about it....

Do you know anybody has experiences of it ? Or maybe anybody in Korea can give a hand or some input ?

Many thanks !!

Hi Jeffrey
I've sent a HU Private Message to seouljoe asking him to reply to your post. Also contacted 3 different British friends via Facebook asking them to look at this thread. I believe they all shipped from Korea to North America (relatively) recently.

Have you contacted the Seoul HU Community via Horizons Unlimited Motorcycle Travellers' Community - Contact a Community!

Sorry, never been to Korea myself.

Good luck!
Chris

I've also moved this post to the North America forum. I feel it's more appropriate there.

I don't think Jeffrey can use the PM function as he hasn't got enough posts. I'll try to find an email for Wendy.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
