renting bikes from San Francisco - any rental company????

Hi everyone,

we are planning to rent 2 bikes for 3 weeks, around May/June, and tour from San Francisco north toward Oregon then Montana and Wyoming - doing the Beartooth highway + Yellowstone more or less - nothing well defined yet!

I came accross eagleRider.com website but I was just wondering if my friends Hubbers can suggest better/cheaper?

Not particularly fussed about which bike as long they are good tourers and I can have one low enough for my short legs :)

Advice welcome. We did not have any holidays this year due to moving from the UK to Brazil and on top of that had to sell our bikes :(... so I am so desperate to get riding again! The bureaucracy in Brazil is such that I have no clue when we will be able to get settled, docs sorted so that we can buy bikes here! doh

Thanks for advising!

Rental Information

What type of bike are you in need of?
Although we aren't in S.F. , we are located in Central Oregon.
May/June will be really early for Yellowstone and Beartooth.
What is your inseam and what bike do you ride presently?
Check out our web site , hopefully we could be of assistance in one way or another.

Good Luck!

Take a look here: Dubbelju Motorcycle Rentals

I have heard some good reports on him and his prices may be more reasonable than some of the bigger rental agencies.

If you go to San Francisco, there are many bike rental companies. There are many companies renting bikes. Basically, most ppl bike across the Golden Gate Bridge (spectacular sites), and then take the ferry back, and bike back to the bike rental place. Note: Bikes in general are pretty ordinary - but are comfortable enough for the trip.

If you are more adventuresome and plan a bike trip from Napa Valley to San Francisco, then let us know. If you are staying in Calistoga and plan just a day trip to San Francisco, one nice way to get to San Francisco for the day is to take the ferry from Vallejo. There are lots of places to rent bikes at Fisherman's Wharf.

bike renting

Hi Maria,

Just read in the November edition of the Ulysses magazine, Ulysses is the biggest Australian motorcycle club with about 25 000 members, an article about riding in California. As already being mentioned by some before, the aussies also where full of praise about Dubbelju Motorcycle Tours and Rentals in Frisco. One borrowed a Triumph Tiger and the other one a Harley Sportster Low.
Here is the comment of Peter Thoemig, one of the leading motorbike journos here in Australia:I am happy to recommend them, their service is excellent.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Cheers
RM

Hi Webby,
we will be coming from Rio de Janeiro where we now live, so for us it will be much easier to flight in and out of SF. Even like that I am not sure we will be able to get a direct flight and probably have to change in Miami or god knows where. Originally I was thinking to get the bikes in Montana but it will be too complicated for transfers so in the end FS it is. it seems there are lots of companies as well so will investigate all that.
Thank all guys for the advice.

Regarding Napa Valley, I have no idea where that is! When we go back to the UK in January, to pick up our permanent visas (for Brazil) I will pop at Stanfords in Covent garden to buy some maps of the US . That should help to do the Routing! I can't wait! Especially considering that since last June we have been bikeless (as importing bikes to Brazil is not allowed) and we still cannot buy bikes (until our visas are sorted and our container with all our bike gear is allowed then to leave the UK!).

Cheers,
