Shipping to Alaska from lower 48

The ferry wants $750 each way to ship from washington to the mainland of Alaska, one shipper I contacted said about the same, the other one never got back to me. For me and my bike on the ferry would be about $1300 each way, way too expensive for a summer excursion up and back. I can't go thru Canada due to a DUI seven years ago and I do want to get my own bike up there since I think renting one up there would be very expensive too. Perhaps there are cheaper shippers, or someone knows a good Canadian immigration lawyer that can help with the process. The application to clear my name with all the hoops to jump thru is $200 each time. I've already been turned down once being told wanting to ride thru Canada was not a good enough reason for them to consider my application. I can re-apply but risk losing another $200 dollars in the application process. So anyway, a cheap way to ship my bike up there is what I'm looking for, any help would be appreciated.

Read again. He won't get admitted to Canada due to a past DUI conviction.

DUI's, are considered felonies

DUI's are considered felonies in Canada, no matter how long ago they occurred. I know people who have not drank for twenty years, have gone across the border countless times for business reasons, and one day get checked, they run a drivers license check, and thats it, they can no longer go into Canada even for work until they jump thru all the hoops. If they don't they face a life time ban and if they try to get in again and get caught they face jail. Granted I could just ride to the border and chances are I probably wouldn't get checked and they would wave me thru. But there is no garauntee of that and what a hassle if you get caught. I love Canada and do want to travel there again, but not under the fear of worrying about being caught and be "exported" back to the states....

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
