Back again to HU after 6 years!

I just don't believe it, but back in 2001 I became a member of HU. I started riding from dirt scratch in the Spring of 2000. I sold my car in 2001 and bought a 2001 KLR650 that I rode to Alaska bone stock. The years have ticked by so fast. I have bought and sold about 5 different bikes, bought and sold a house, got married in September 2005, and after several years have returned to dual sport touring/adventure touring.

I've looked at HU every now and then over the years, but finally today just came up with my old login email from 2001.

We bought a 2006 KTM 950 this past September that is the most fantastic machine I've ever ridden. This July I have a 27 day tour to Alaksa from Portland, Oregon planned. My first and only trip to AK in 2001 was wiped out by snow, rain, and cold in July as I beat a hasty retreat south after only spending two days in Alaska.

It is amazing to see how big and rich the HU site has become, and the information contained in the HU site is just staggering.

As an old member coming back to the fold, I wish everyone a hearty "Prost"!!

Widmer Brewing Portland Oregon

Thanks Mollydog for the great reply and great to hear from another appreciator of good out there on HU.

We have general public tours at Widmer Brewing in Portland at Friday's at Noon, and Saturday's at 11am and Noon.

But, please send me a PM or email if you are ever up in Portland and I can meet you for a few cold pints and a personal tour from me. I just did a tour for some new friends last night who had never been to the Brewery.

I've never visited Anchor sadly. I lived for 12 years in the Bay Area and really didn't "discover" good until I spent a year working up in Billings Montana in the mid 90's. There really wasn't much else to do there but spend some time homebrewing during that long cold winter I spent there.

We have crash space and have a great place just 10 minutes from Downtown Portland if you are ever in town. Keep in touch.

Right now Portland Oregon has more breweries in the city limits than any where elese on Earth. I think about 33 and counting.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
