License requirements for USA motorcycle rental

Hi all,

I'm over 25 and currently hold a full UK motorcycle license which in the UK is restricted to 33bhp until Jun'09, I actually ride a 883R Sportster.

Does the UK restriction inhibit my ability to rent motorcycles in the US, specifically Florida? I can't find anything anywhere that even acknowledges it and it's a pretty much ignored rule in the UK too.

No restriction here

In the US, our motorcycle licenses are unrestricted. If you have full UK license, you can rent,
drive, buy any size bike you want in the US. FYI, most states but NOT all have helmet laws.

It's true motorcycle licenses here are unrestriced, however i still believe they group them into two different classes. ie under 600cc and over. or something like that. You might want to check into that to make sure your license will fall into the category you want. and yes helmet laws vary state to state and they ARE Enforced. my buddy got a 100 dollar ticket last year in Washington state for having his helmet strap not buckled. crazy

No one has suggested this, but it would be best to contact the rental agency you plan to use, and in the city/state it is located in. They are the ones renting you the bike, and want the business, so they will try any angle to do so.
