Inuvik/Alaska in June

Hi,
Heading up to the above places in June in an old Jeep from Alberta, if anyone has info on good camp spots en route (epsecially to Inuvik) or any other useful information.

Also would it be worth packing a 2nd spare tyre/extra fuel - how bad are the roads, What will the bug situation be at that time of year and what are the day/night temperatures like please - much below 0 ?
Thanks
Grif

Traveling by old jeep to add a little extra to the journey? I was at Inuvik last June and the weather was great, much better than montana. It was balmy and dusty in inuvik but other years it has been close to freezing. Lots of bugs in spots. You know it's buggy when you pull into a campsite and people are sitting around in their headnets. As far as campsites check out "the milepost" it has a lot of the normal touristy stuff. Almost every small town headed north has a campsite along with gravel pits and pull offs. Don't miss the hot springs at Laird. Last year I saw more blackbear than I have in other years. If you camp in Inuvik stay at the campsite in town if you want action and have your stuff secured, otherwise the campsite outside of town is a bit more peacefull. The dempster has a stretch that is 230 miles without gas and I found a few places headed up there that closed all the gas stations surprisingly early. Especialy when it doesn't really get dark.

Good info there and a good link - thanks Norm,
Bill, I'd much prefer to be doing it on a bike or in my Land Rover - but the shipping is a bit much - we only have a month to do it.
Unfortunately I will have to slum it in the girlfriends Jeep (she's Canadian) - Im still trying to talk her into doing South America 2up on a KTM.....
Cheers
Grif
