Thumbs up Help available.

I have a friend in Montreal that could help him there. As far as insurance for the United States Fernet Motorcycle Insurance Specialists - Fernet Insurance Brokers for motorcycle insurance. can write him a policy click on Overseas Visitor at the top of their web page. Prudential insurance can also write a US Policy but for some reason if you use a New York State office they will not. Fernet are insurance brokers and will get him directed right.

A money savings tip is to just make the down payment and by the time the next payment is due he can cancel the policy if it is near 30 days old. Much depends of how long he is staying in the US. Correct me anyone if I am mistaken, thank you.

If they need travel assistance I am 125 miles west of New York City in Pennsylvania and can offer:

Routing
A place for base camp if they want to day trip from.
Place to stay
Garage
I could even ride with them if they want for a while or I can meet them in Montreal since I go there a few times a year.
From Mexico to Argentina I have contacts if they need them.

PM me if you need assistance and we can exchange email addresses.

Well, I found that State Farm deals with the CC of the bike, not the classification So most Riders on sports bikes go there. Kingsway Insurance is a larger Motorcycle Insurance company and goes by classification, so he may get better pricings from there. Hope that helps.

If you need any route info let me know. I lived in Quebec, about 30 mins south of Montreal for 1 year. I now live West of there in Ontario. Down near Detroit Mich USA, but on the Canadian Side of the Border. I am very Familiar with the 401 Highway and Central and near north Ontario. And can add points of interest to his ride if he likes, such as Niagra Falls, and many others.... Just fire a msg to me, and Ill assist anyways I can.

Hi Vincent,

Did you manage to solve the insurance requirement.

We are also shipping our bikes to Montreal in May and would like to organise vehicle insurance.

Mexico Insurance

Just a quick note to say that getting insurance in Canada is a snap. A quick online search of Canada Motorcycle insurance will give you a long list of companies that will give you a quote online.

As a rule the policy purchased for Canada will also be valid in the USA.

This insurance will not extend into Mexico. When I travel into Mexico and Central America I usualy purchase insurance from Sanborns Insurance.

Sanborn's Insurance for Mexico - Buy your Mexico Auto Insurance Including Car and Travel Insurance today.

If you belong to an international automobile association that has a reciprocal agreement with the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) or the American Automobile Association (AAA) then you can also buy Mexico insurance through them in the Southern US before you cross the border.

Have a great trip

Rick

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
