Hotel Near Miami Airport
 

Hi!

It's the end of my trip :( and now time to ship my KLR back north.

I'm leaving in Canada but I'm looking at the possibility to ship the bike to Miami by plane and then ride to Canada or to ship by boat directly to my home town.

I'm evaluating all the expenses. I don't have any books about Miami but do you any cheap hotel to recommend around the airport. What is a cheap price in Miami?

I'm estimating 3 days to clear my canadian bike out of the custom. Does it sounds enough? I don't know all the procedure that has to be done now since the 9/11 incident?

Hi Patrick , the hotels next to the airport are fairly expensive, between $90 to $125 ,if you can be in Hollywood or Fort Lauderdale (20MN drive)you can get a room $40 in a descent hotel.Do not stay in North Miami or South beach except if you stay in a nice hotel or you will be in a bad place for sure.

In '03 I shipped (flew) my bike into Miami. I was able to find a motel near the airport I felt safe at for ~$40. Ask the shuttle drivers at the airport. Can't remember the name right now. It took me 2 days to get my bike out of customs but it was a day late arriving as well.
