Home and Bike Exchange - 2012

Testing the water for 2012.?c?

My wife and I used to swop homes for our holidays years ago and I wondered if anyone would be interested in exchanging homes and bikes in 2012 for 2 - 3 months?

I have a BMW R1200GSA, a BMW R1150GS and a Yamaha WR250 offroad bike. We live in a scenic part of the Northeast of England close to the Lake District and Scotland and an ideal place for touring. Our preference would be for somewhere in the Rockies/Northwest region.

Any takers?:scooter:

How long of are you looking for? I have a house in Denver, CO, USA, a car, and a BWM GS650. My renters will probably move out in Jun 2012.

I am at the base of the Rocky Mountains! Plenty of beautiful canyons, mountains, and back-country to explore. Does this sound interesting to you?

I'm looking for 2 months preferably Sept/Oct but could be a bit flexible though don't want to be there when the temperatures are high.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the offer and maybe for another time. I've been to Turkey 4 times now. Beautiful country and so much biking. I hope to go back in the not too distant future.:thumbup1:

I've had some positive responses so far and things are looking hopeful though our request for 2 months is a problem for most. We are now looking at breaking our trip into two. We have a great offer in New Mexico for 1 month so we are looking for another month in the Central/Northern Rockies. Our preference is for Sept but mid August to mid October for 1 month would be great. Any takers?

We live in a small hamlet a few miles west of the market town of Hexham, Northumberland:

Hexham - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

We live in an old converted Coach House which has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, lounge, kitchen, dining room, study and garden. It's part of a small complex of 8 homes converted from an old hall. We have good neighbours. We have swapped homes/cars in the past and had a great time in Europe and the US and never experienced any difficulty.

At the moment I have 3 bikes - a 1200GSA, an 1150GS and a Yamaha WR250 offroad bike. There are some nice trails in the area. I'm in the BMW Motorcycle Club and UKGSERs (an internet website for GS bikers) and ride with both of the groups. They're friendly bunches and would welcome visitors.

I should say that we have a car as well that could be swapped - a Honda CRV.:welcome:

Aloha Petcul,
Your post caught my eye as intriguing as I tried to arrange the same sort of thing. Must have posted on the wrong site as nothing gelled and I wound up renting a Bike in Germany for a much shorter period of time than I would have liked.
Anyways, thought I'd throw this out there even though I'm not exactly in the area you were looking at:
I have a small home in the mountains of Southern California and keep an 1150 GSA there. Time is not an issue since I live in Hawaii at the moment and only get to enjoy the bike and house about once a year, the rest of the time it all sits empty and unused.
The place is in a small resort town called Big Bear Lake perched at 7000 ft on the rim of the toilet bowl known as Los Angeles and is quite pleasant as it never gets that hot in the summer and even has snow and skiing in the winter. There's some nice riding in the local mountains, but, alas, it takes about a day of boring riding to get to any of the noteworthy spots like the National parks in southern Utah or in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California and a day and a half for the Rockies.
Hawaii is also an option, but while many consider these islands paradise, for any real riding its more of an antiparadise (to coin a new word).

If this holds any interest for you, drop me a line and I can give you more details and talk further.

Berndt

My time frame is flexible however, I know I won't get 2 months away from work. How about spending one month in 2 different locations? Eventually I need to rent my house again. If you are interested, it would work better to swap my house in September.

Just another possible option to consider.

Children!!!doh

After such a positive response to my initial threads both my children have decided to get married next year so any plans for holidays in 2012 have suddenly gone into limbo.

Not to worry:rolleyes2: I aim to resurrect the project for 2013 so if anyone is still interested or even vaguely interested do get in touch.:welcome:
