Could someone in C.A lend me their address?

I have arrived in LA 2 days ago and I am trying to buy a new motorcycle to go to Mexico, Central and South America.

All is going ok but I need to provide a Californian address for the permanent papers to be sent.

What I require is an address from someone that is happy to email me when these papers arrive so that I can give them a forwarding address. It takes 4 to 6 weeks so I expect to be in Mexico or further down by then. I would be happy to reinburse for the post. Or if you are going to the metting in Mexico I could give you the money in advance (I am hoping to make the meeting).

Cheers
Maurice

May help

I do not live in CA, so I can't help you there. However, would you be able to just get a post office box there? I don't know if that would be of any help, but figured I'd pass it on. Check with the local post office for other options. Good luck.

A UPS store or similar my be a better choice, as they are set up to do the mail drop and forward thing. Of course if you can find someone more interested, i.e. another motorcyclist, that is better yet.

Ups

UPS is United Parcel Service. They handle things pertaining to shipping and delivering goods. Similar to the postal service. They have various stores around the area.

Most States

Stopped allowing the use of PMB's (private mail boxes) after 9/11 for 'official' addresses and have the PMB addresses in databases, and will raise a red flag.

I believe most, if not all, now require a physical address.

...edit: I'm not sure what the provision is now (if there is one) for RVers and boaters.

Any address will do

Used the address of the hostel I was staying in a couple of years ago. They forwarded my personalized plate and my papers to me.

My point is: any address that is not a p.o. box will do. Now you just have to find a hostel or B&B with friendly owners...

All fixed up now

All is ok now. Someone on this site was kind enough to let me use their address. I have now bought the bike and I am getting it ready for the trip.

Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
