Americas I'm coming !!

Americas I'm coming !!

I'm Matt from France on motorbike world tour since july 2010.

My bike and I will arrive in Vancouver on the 17th of may.
The plan for the american leg of my journey is to ride from Canada to Argentina. As usual no plan, no time limit (only money limit !)

Except riding my bike in beautiful landscapes, feeling adventurous everyday, what I really enjoy while travelling is to meet people, different people, and learn from them. Of course travellers and bikers are my favorite because we already share some strories, at least we have common passion and it's always good time talking about travel with fellow bikers !!

I would be glad if I can meet HUBBers on my way, please just drop me a line !!

Cheers,

Matt

Hi Bob,

thanks for your hospitality ! I'll let you know when I'll be in your area and we'll see if we can meet up !

I'll arrive in Vancouver in less than 3 weeks but still no plan, as usual the journey will decide by itself the daily destination, following is own schedule !!

First of all is to get my bike out of the port, clear custom and find insurance... then I'll tell you if I go north, south or east from Van.

You should ride in France, Provence is my favorite area, specially from april to september.

Hope to see you,

Matt

Hi Matt,
Have been on the road for a year, tomorrow. Currently Vancouver. Heading to Alaska, then back down to Argentina. Open-ish timescale. Maybe keep on the wires, our paths may cross. Not sure when im leaving Vancouver yet, still about a month too early for Alaska.
I'm from UK and have travelled in France and Europe, breaking my leg in Croatia. That's another story.

Hi pete, would be nice to meet up in Vancouver !

maybe before you start your journey heading north, or we'll catch up later somewhere in the south...

I'll have to spend a few days in Vancouver waiting for my bike to arrive from Malaysia, then my wallet tell me to go south as fast as possible, but being there, so close to Alaska... I have many options !

Also many questions ! About Visa, going out of Canada and in again (same for US with Alaska) can be an issue ? Are you riding your own UK registered bike in America ? in that case how could you insure it ?

After 2 years riding from France to Asia, I'm used to travel on very cheap standart and I'm afraid north america will rob a big part of my budget... If you have any tips for a cheap way to travel, will be most welcomed !!

See you,

Matt

Hello Matt,

If you want a place to stay, and keep to your budget, you are most welcome at our house. Lots of room to pitch a tent, maintain the bike, swap stories and advice etc... We live in Langley, just outside of Vancouver. Private Message me if you decide to.

Regards, Mike.

Hi Matt
If the road leads you to New Mexico (highly recommend the South West – amazing scenery and vistas) and you need a place stay, you are welcome at our place; just outside of Albuquerque. We also ride and love talking to others about their travels and sharing what we know of the area.

Safe and happy travels

Kerry

Hi Folks,

sorry for the late answer but my internet connection was dead for 1 week, the week before I plan to arrive in Canada and have so many stuff to organise before a 1 year journey...

Still looking for a couch next friday in Vancouver to spend a few nights before I'll receive my bike at the port !!

Mike, I send you PM, I really appreciate your offer ! I'll come to your place as soon as I pick up my bike (and my tent !)

Kerry, thanks to invite me to stay at your place ! I let you know when I'll be around your area, maybe september...

Cheers :)

Hi Mattam. Can I ask what company you're using to ship your bike?

I'm from the UK but currently living in Germany and wanting to do a similar trip. Just now I'm considering if I should ship my bike there and back, or go through the trouble of buying one there and selling it after.

How to collect motorbike from the port in Vancouver

Hi Akira,

I've shipped my motorbike from Malaysia 1 month ago. the company is "AGS world transport".

I arrived Vancouver 5 days ago and it's very hard for me to get any information from the port about where and when to go to pick it up.

When I show my bill of loading at the port, they send me to another place, again and again... until now I couldn't find anyone able to tell me even where is the vessel... I'm getting tired !

Good luck,
enjoy your journey !!
