American driving non-US plated bike in US

I live outside the US and may bring a non-US plated bike into the US as part of a RTW trip. I have a US passport, non-US drivers license, and I don't plan to keep the bike in the US permanently. Does anyone have this experience? Do you anticipate any problems?

I found the following, which suggests I should be fine as long as I maintain my nonresident status...let me know if anyone has had a different experience.

Importing a Motor Vehicle - CBP.gov

"U.S. citizens employed abroad or government employees returning on TDY or voluntary leave may import a foreign-made car free of duty provided they enter the U.S. for a short visit, claim nonresident status, and export the vehicle when they leave."

Not sure how long a "short visit" is, or whether it is also one year like visitors from other countries.

No Problems

We are currently riding around the US on UK registered bikes and the most common question is where are those bikes from. Been easy so far.
