Accommodation near Toronto Airport.

Hi,

I've tried this request on the Accommodation page but got zero response, so I thought I'd try again here. Can anyone recommend cheap(for me) and secure(for the bike) accommodation near to Toronto Airport? Having spent 8+hours on the plane and then some time clearing the bike, all I'll want to do is find somewhere nearby to get my head down!

Cheers Derek.

T.O. Airport

Hi,

Quite a few choices near Toronto Airport. For the best deals, go to hotwire.com and search only for hotels near the airport. They will all have shuttles and for such a short stay I would just pick the lowest price. Some are pretty utilitarian but all safe.

Airport is outside of city

Maybe you're not getting a lot of response because motorcyclist travellers avoid Toronto traffic like the plague.
It's been a long time since I had to stay in Toronto, so this isn't going to be worth a lot as personal recomendation. The airport is located outside of the city, and therefore does have numerous motels located within minutes of the airport. If you simply want to unpack your bike, park it and take a room, you probably can do that by staying at one of the hotels located right at the airport. If so, expect to pay a small fortune. It will not be cheap. Motels within 5 to 10 minutes of the airport, you will pay a bit less (only an arm and a leg).
Google search "hotels, motels at Toronto airport" and you will find locations.

Good luck and watch out when on the 401 or 400 highway. The truck traffic is truely insane.

Airport Accomodation

Hey Narly
As a past Toronto resident and traveler I would suggest you check out the Delta Inn Airport when you arrive at the Airport. It is only 5 minutes from the Airport and accomodates travelers who want a secure parking lot for their vehicles. First off they are really friendly and honest. Great clean accomodations and what you need after a long flight is NO hassles right?.....
You can book online and even request special treatment via e mail. My wife and I have stayed there many times and they are one of the few places we have ever stayed that have gone out of their way to "personlize" your stay with them. The secure parking lot is great as it is safe and will be secure for your bike. It might be a "tad" pricey......around 125 plus dollars a night but for your first night's saty it is well worth it. A chance to regroup and plan your trip from there is what I'm trying to say. If you look for something cheap like the motels and hotels around Lakeshore Road just outside Toronto in the West End then you will be the victim of crack addicts and thieves. You can get directions easily from any info booth at the Airport on how to get to this place once they unload your bike and because it's on Airport Road it is very easy to find. Don't get too complicated with finding a place that's cheap and in the city as you will be so upset by the time you reach that place your whole trip will get off on the wrong foot. Traffic is horrendous and depending when you get into town there is a lot of out of control factors that could spoil your arrival.
One last thing.....it's location is perfect for planning your next leg of your trek. Close to major highways with easy on and off's ..........lots of maps and advise on how to get where you want to go and meals are great.
Good Luck and Safe Trip

Define cheap. This is where I stay because they are the cheapest around...about $70.

Motel 6 Mississagua, 12 miles west from the airport down the 401.
Request a ground floor room and park your motorcycle directly outside your window.

Book online and you'll save. After doing so, call the actual hotel and confirm your special requests. There are lots of places to eat around there.

If you need GPS coordinates they are listed on the link above.

Hotels

Not to repeat myself, but as a general hotel tip for larger centers in North America, you should definitely check out hotels.com or the highly recommended - hotwire.com. I generally look at them first for all business trips and have used the hotwire system in Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver (for friends), NY, San Fran, LA, Barcelona, San Diego, etc. In all cases, cheaper than any other site, sometimes not much but about half the time quite a bit. If you are not familiar with the site, it is an excess inventory clearing house for travel including hotel rooms. The catch is that you don't know the exact name of the hotel until after you book, which I suppose allows the hotels to continue to advertsise their full rates under their own name on the internet. For example, near the airport next week the prices for one star through four star is: $43, $54, $47, $81 (USD). Pretty cheap, typically their best value pick is the most popular and they are name brand hotels so rarely too dodgy. Oh, and if you get there, avoid the cheapies at LAX, they are right under the flight path.
