4.01 routable basemap is worldmap, yes.

here (direct link to russian garmin site), after download, extract file and copy the file "gmapbmap.img" inside "\GarminMobileXTFull\GMobileCard\Garmin" to your garmin device (overwrite old one):

Gracias amigo, I was almost swung over to the 60csx because of its price, durability, off-bike use and positive raps I have read elsewhere.

You can also use the Zumo off the bike, it has an internal battery. You just can't use it to play music or get audio directions while off the bike, b/c the audio out jack is in the mount.

Zumo is amazing, could be expensive, but you get what you pay.

I have a Macbook. Am I able to use garminMobileXT once I get it loaded onto the Zumo? That is, once I load it on using a PC, can I the use it on the appropriate Mapsource replacement software, i.e. Garmin Roadtrip I use on my Mac, which is the similar to Mapsource.

don´t mix the things, what you´ll load into zumo will be "gmapbmap.img" file with "copy-paste" conecting zumo to your mac with "usb" cable, not with mapsource. This will make you be able to see routable worldmap 4.01 version in your zumo.

maps specifically for the zumo come on sd cards, but on the garmin website it says they can also use maps from the city navigator DVD. does anyone on here do that? do you load them onto your own sd card to put in the zumo or does it have an internal memory? its a zumo400 im talking about.

personally ive had problems with sd cards before and i wouldnt want to trust my whole (expensive!) maps to be stored on one. i would prefer to have a DVD 'master' and load the unit from the pc.

zumos have an internal memory, but i think the 400's is smaller than the other models. go to the zumo forum for all the info you could ask for on what maps will work and how to load them onto internal memory or SD

thats what im hoping. i dont mind using an sd card in the zumo for storing maps but ive lost too many photos to trust one completely. at least then i can have a duplicate for back up.

re; above few posts, i have been playing with my zumo and
FOR ANYONES INFO;
the zumo is basically a flash drive that comes up on your PC/mac as another drive folder. you can copy stuff from it onto your desktop without hurting it (in fact you should do this anyway to make a back-up folder, and definately do this before doing anything below).
DO NOT DELETE GmapBMAP, this is the basemap all the detailed maps overlay onto. you can delete GmapPROM and GmapSUPP, these are your regional maps.
then in mapsource, select maps for a region you want to keep, eg UK or whatever, and send these to your zumo. they will appear in the folder as GmapSUPP. rename this file GmapPROM, this basically is your preloaded maps.
any more map regions for hols or whatever that get loaded into the zumo will appear as GmapSUPP files, and it will keep the PROM file seperate so you know which maps to get rid of afterwards.

Is true, but you can overwrite the GmapBMAP with a new one, like I was telling before, because I did it, I have the 4.01 routable GmapBMAP just overwriting the original.
Anyway I recomend make a backup of the garmin (is very easy, just copy all folders "MP3 and GARMIN" from Zumo unit to the computer using USB cable), and if something is going bad, erase all from zumo and copy the folders that you have in your PC.

i never knew the basemap changed! is it available to download from garmin free or do you have to pay for it?

oh, and for anyone with a 400/450, the internal memory is 512Mb. thats not great but it is double what im used to in the old quest, and its academic anyway when you also have an SD slot (and HC compatable)

does anyone know a cheap way to get the screen on my zumo 550 replaced?i dropped it taking it out of the cradle last week and garmin charge £130 to fix it....long shot as garmin is probably the only place to get it done......
