ZUMO 550 Repairs??

It's always the bloooody way!!
I brought a new cradle and a touratech mount for my Garmin Zumo 550 about 3 weeks ago as the old cradle had failed after a tough 6 years of use and was all working O.K.
As we didn't have such bad weather Sunday just gone I took a little trip down to the Sammy Miller Museum. Was a good day out.
The only down side was that my Zumo gave up altogether. By the looks of it, there seems to be one of the very small gold dots (terminal) missing from the underneath of the unit.

Im off to Holland in 4 weeks on the bike 2 up so I really do need it.

Has anyone ever had a unit repaired by any one other than Garmin??
Garmin have quoted me £111.00 for a recon model that only comes with a 3 month warranty.

Thanks, Loz

This is the problem with modern electronics. It works perfectly until it fails, then it is junk.
probably your best bet is to shop around for another satnav unit that does what you want. It may be the same thing, or something completely different.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
