South America Paper Maps

Hi All,
I am looking for recommendations of online companies that sell good paper road maps of South America and that can be used on the bike (i.e. foldable for a tang bag).
Thanks in advance

I recommend RoughGuide Maps

I don't have an online company to recommend, but I prefer RoughGuide maps - printed on tearproof, waterproof plastic paper. They can be folded to whatever size you need without hassle, and don't start tearing at the folds like regular paper maps. On a bike, waterproof is

My next preference is for Berndston/Borch laminated maps, because the are also waterproof, tearproof. You can write on them with a marking pencil and remove with a damp cloth. The problem I have with these is the heavy plastic doesn't allow folding into the best shape for your map case. I don't use a tankbag, just a BarMap mapcase from CycoActive (a.k.a. Touratech USA) and the maps I have for SA don't fit.

You can Google for these names and I'm sure you'll come up with an online source near you.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
