Battery power for GPs

Hi I have a Garmin 2610 The 2610 has to be plugged into the mains or a cigarette lighter to work.
Is it possible to rig up some AA battries and a cigarette socket so that GPS can be plugged in and used while away from the bike and any mains supply.
My street pilot 3 used 6 AA battries and will last about 2 hours.
Or any other ideas how to power 2610 GPS while away from the bike
Thanks

Here in the US I was able to find a battery based phone charger from Energizer. It comes with different connectors for different types of phones. Don't know if you can rig it up to work with a GPS. Here's the link Energizer - Energi To Go Cell Phone Charger for Most Nokia Phones - CEL2NOK

I also saw a flashlight (the type you crank) rigged to work with a cellphone. PopuPlace.com Streaming Videos - Funny Videos Clips - Sexy Video Clips - Game Video Clips - Music Video Clips

Good luck and let us know what you get.

John

I found and ordered a 12 volt battery pack from Touratech
It is a box with 8 or 10 AA size batterys inside it has a socket to plug in GPS (need adaptor for cigarette lighter socket) and a mount on the top to attach GPS unit.
I will post a pic when it arrives

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
