Garmin Montana 600: Is my memory gone?

I have a Montana 600. I use it with City Navigator as a satnav, and as a "moving map" with Ordnance survey 1:50 maps. I occasionally use it to record trails I have ridden. I vaguely remember being able to manipulate the track data like editing details, naming "current track" etc, but since I plugged in to Basecamp and did an "update" a few months ago, I can no longer work out how to do anything other than navigate a stored track via the "tracks" section of "Where to?"

I thought there was a tracks and waypoints manager, but there is now only a waypoint manager. Have I lost something in the update, or is my own biological RAM at fault? Has Garmin deliberately downgraded my 600 to make me splash out on a 700i (a la Apple's alleged marketing ploy!)

Well for some reason, when I updated, Garmin decided to mess up the settings in my "profile". I've no idea where the track manager icon went, or how to get it back, but I wandered aimlessly into "change profiles" and clicked on one at random, noticed it had a full compliment of operation icons, including the track manager, so I've just spent an hour modifying this new profile with all my preferences.
Lesson learned: Don't assume a software update will be an improvement, and if it works ok, don't f**k with it!!

Now all I have to do is work out why I can't search for a destination using the "city" icon - just gives me the old "endless circle - working on it" logo, but that's for another day...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
