I've a Garmin nuvi 510 GPS device. Is designed for motorcycle so it's waterproof and you don't need any extra protection. Also it has bluetooth connection so you can listen navigation instructions through devices like parrot SK4000, Cardo or Scala moto bluetooth and so.

Greetings.

Why don't you contact garmin directly?, had problems with my 550 (out of warranty) got a refurbed one for just over £100 (can't remember exactly how much). Worth a try

i chucked it out ages ago, no one could seem to fix it.

Someone told me that i can use NUVI instead of Zumo... i though the nuvi was in car and not water proof... is this right?

No, as I've said above the Nuvi 510 (I have one of them) and Nuvi 550 are waterproof and are designed for use them in motorcycles. Try to look for them at internet.

thanks for clearing that up....

just looking at the Nuvi 550, it seems to do have have all i need. just one question on it tho. Once its fitted via a ram mount on the bike will it charge through a hard wired cable like the zumo 550 i had or only with the mini USB into a 12v plug socket?

thanks

I think you might need one of these

Motorcycle Mount & Hardwire Direct Power Cable for: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

With my nuvi 510 I use the charger provided with the device that is just like this: http://goo.gl/jyVN3

i like that idea of useing a car type charger... that way you can un plug it and use the battery, keeping it fully charged would be no go for it in the long run.

thanks guys im looking for one now.... :-)

I looked at the Nuvi. I don't think it's got bluetooth but the thought of having it talking to me for miles after miles leaves me cold anyway. I ended up with a Garmin Zumo 500. I made the mistake of thinking that it came with europe mapping so it work in Europe like it does in the UK. I was wrong.

Also... I fitted a car charger to my bike and all is well with the world. My satnav is just hard wired and my electrical system is weaker than the last kitten to fall out of its mother. No problem at all. They use a tiny current.

The nuvi 510 has bluetooth for sure...I have one of this and I use a cheap handfree bluetooth with it.
