Real-Time/On-Line Trackers...?

Hi... Been googling for hours trying to find a tracker i can buy that can wire into my bike and will transmit/charge when the ingition is on... but ive found bugga all!

I need the capability of having a map of where i am on a couple of websites so peaple can track my exact progress. This is for a couple of companies that are helping me out and want this for promotion etc

My family and friends also want to follow this and i would love a complete history of where i have been! it needs to be clear and easy to use like google maps/earth or something... can anyone help?

I expect to pay monthly fees etc and im doing south america to alaska to new york (25k miles ish) then uk to australia (know idea how many miles) so needs to work worldwide...

Would greatly appreciate any guidance or sugestions as its starting to drive me insane!

Thanks for your time
kind regards

Andy

Try searching for a vehicle tracking systems.

There is such a thing, but it generally gets covered under fleet management, and is real time linked through a GSM cellphone. I believe that they would be cost prohibitive, unless you were to be part of a fleet management company and could use one on the back of their fleets system.

I also dont think that these go outside the boundaries of the international border you are in.

The data loggers you are looking for dont really cut it.

I am fairly sure that something has been done with the 2 Garmin Cellphones and their SMS feature. But dont know how, again requiring a GSM signal all the time.
Also with a phone called Benefon, I believe

But these two methods are not automated, its a bit awkward and requires you to send SMS's constantly. so is costly.

Spot

we use this

New SPOT International Landing Page

and love it.

It should work everywhere you are going, but we have just entered India where it doesn't work. Has a couple of other cool features. When the trouble in Iran was happening recently, mobiles, land lines, email and internet was brought down, but we still sent an 'OK' message home with this. Also doesn't work in Africa

SO far we have done 15k miles UK to India and will guess 25-30k UK to Oz, but it's going to depend on your route. Think it's somewhere between 15-20k miles the shortest way.

Hope this helps
