problem downloading maps... help!?!?
please help.
i have downloaded the colrut (source and binary) maps for mexico and colombia but i can't get my garmin mapsourse to recognize it. they came downloaded as zip files, i extract the files. then try to open them via mapsource, and it say's it doesn't recognize it as a file. the maps aren't in the drop down... is my laptop retarded? or am I? steve |
Mapsource needs 2 other files than the .img file. Its been a while but I think cgpsmapper program can compile an .img file and produce the two missing files, which you then have to copy into your garmin library and configure your registry to point to these files. Search the net for more precise info.
If you only have the .img file you can use mapsend20 (and a few other programs) to transfer it directly to your gps unit. |
thanks
wow, thanks for the info! that's great news. i'll be home from work and get to mess with it tonight.
