Pissed off with my 2610 and City Navigator 8 - Cant find addresses.

Im going to the HU meet in the Uk this year..

The address is:

Lumb Farm
Derby Road,
Ripley,
Derbyshire,
DE5 8JN

So I search for Derby road in England. Only 3 matches !! BOLLOX. I know of 3 just in my town and the one I need isnt there.

So I search Derby road in DE5 8 - No matches found ! BOLLOX !

I try all spellings and spacing and nothing.

Maddening this is. The road is there on Mapsource and when I painstakingly found it manually on the unit, the road is there and called "Derby road"

How crap can this be ?? Anyone else have problems findind addresses with a 2610 and City Nav 8.

When you search on the 2610 don't include 'Road' or 'Street'. If you want to find 'Derby Road' just enter in the word 'Derby'.
I haven't tried this particular search, but I've had similar problems locating other addresses for this reason.

It worked 2nd time when i restricted with a postcode but put a house number in.

Even though there isnt one.

I did try the search you describe in the first place. I swear its got bugs in the software

Other problems are spaces. My home road is called "Mountwood road" In all maps, software etc its one word.

The 2610 wont find it unless i do "Mount wood Road" with a space.

Still, its a great unit and even better now I have my 2 gig card in

Lumb farm waypoint

If it's any help to you I've got the HU meet as a waypoint on my 2610. I'll send you a file with it on if you need it. I'm typing this from my work so it might not be too accurate but look at the road (derby road) from ripley/marehay south. There's a petrol station marked on your 2610 map outside of the town. (It's no longer a petrol station though) The HU meet is right accross the road from the petrol station on your map.
BTW City Navigator 9 is out and I got it as a free upgrade from Garmin. When did you register your 2610 with them?
Jim

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
