Pathaway3 for ppc and maps
 

Hi,

Who has experience with the DVD maps for Nord-Africa sold by ttqv, with about 120 satellite photos scale 1:250.000.
Are these maps better than the old russian maps for Africa?
I'm planning to use this with Pathaway3 on a iPaq2210

I have these sat images, only I downloaded them from NASA rather than purchase them from TT. They are great and very helpful, but they complement regular maps rather than replace them. They don’t show the tracks or location names among other important things and these are crucial for proper navigation. They are however a great source for inspiration. Now that I’m armed with them I pick out a lot interesting places to explore, but I still navigate with the regular maps.

One important thing to know is these are called False Colors satellite images. Meaning the colors you see are not the real colors you’ll see on the ground. The colors are optimized to show special features of the land like chemical compositions and so on. If you need true color satellite images that have a scale of 1: 125:000, drop me a line. I know of they’ll be available on the market shortly but they’ll be a bit more expensive.
