Navigating Russia

I use a Garmin unit. My software is good to the Russian border. In July I will ride from the Larvia border to Moscow (pretty easy) but once in Moscow, not so easy. Then I ride from Moscow to St Petersburg, again, pretty easy, but once in the city?? How can I navigate once in Russia? I'm presuming by map only???

Map of Asia

Check out the free map at GPS TrackMaker which says it works for Garmin, works for my Magellan unit ok. There is a thread from me here http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...erywhere-25843 giving some details.

Hope it works ok for you

Forgot to say, city detail is not so good, but you can superimpose Google Earth to build up a route to load into your GPS

I dont use GPS being an old fart - I like me maps still cant read them very well mind. But in Russian as well as other cities if i get into difficulties. I just stop and ask - Its great fun as I cant speak the language, usually newsagent - kiosks sell city maps and Russian people are really helpful its a really nice way to arrive rather than detaching to a computer. When I am really stuck I pay a taxi to guide me and follow him to my destination - always worked so far.
