Moving mapsource world map files to HDD

Morning folks,

I have a copy of MS worldmap installed but it will only work when I have the CD in This may not be a problem at home but I want to run this off my laptop in the 4x4. my tablet does not have a CD drive so im using an external which i dont want hanging out of the USB in the cab. Can i take the files and install them on the HDD? which files? where to install them? and i guess i would have to change a directory or something

Im not so good at these things!

cheers,

G

If I remember correctly:

Copy the WM & TDB folders to the same folder on the HD, then
Run REGEDIT
Search for the path and change the drive letter. It's probably here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Garmin\MapSource\Produ cts\5

Bob's your uncle.

Thanks for this Peter, only now getting around to giving it a go.

I copied the files no problem and have found where the directory change is. Im struggling to make the connection for the LOC file.

My CD has a different set-up to that installed on the HDD but I cannot seem to replicate it. and now I cannot remember the full extension for the D drive (CD) what is the LOC file in the registry looking for? I can see the TDB and Bmap/IMG connection quite easily, but unsure on the LOC

Does this make sense?

My Garmin worldmap has no LOC entry..

LOC entry= D:\Garmin\Wanderlust Worldmap\img

Loc = D:\Garmin\WorldMap

This is where all the .img files (map tiles) are located. Can you not see them on the CD?
