morocco gps map
 

hi all,

as far as i know the best morocco map for garmin is "free-of-charge Marokko Topo maps at http://www.island-olaf.de/travel/marokko/gps.html" according to tim's morocco knowledgebase.

i have downloaded Garmin-format, Part 1 - Road Map (21.DEC.2007, 3.696kB) and followed that Mini-Manual on how to use custom maps with MapSource. however, did not achived to use it with mapsource and did not uploaded to my gps.

especially the second paragraph which says:

2. Install the custom map on the PC: Good custom maps come as an self-installing .exe. That should do everything you need. Don't read on, but continue with the next step.

Sometimes you only get an .zip having an .reg-file included. In that case, open the .reg-file with an text-editor (e.g. Notepad), change the paths written in there to the paths you want to keep the installed map, and then double-click the .reg-file to "merge" it into the Windows registry. Also try the program regedit, but in any case be sure you know, what you are doing!

confused me a lot. there is a reg file, but what do i have change and what shell i write for target/source????

can someone please help me to how to use the img files for creating a decent map for my gps?

Just follow the instructions in the first link you posted...

Download the zip file and extract it to a folder on your hard drive called c:\myMaps\Maroc-Topo. Then... double-click on the file Maroc-Topo.reg within that directory which will automatically update the registry on your computer.

Now load Mapsource and start using it.
