mapholder

On the Ortlieb website you can find mapholders for hiking and so... Long time ago I used one sailing and it lasted all the time. They seem to be very strong.

Now I am considering to buy a newer one with a 4-point attachment system.

I would simply strap it to the top of the tankbag. Or mayby I stitch a couple of straps / bungees to the top of the tankbag.

Think this might be a strong and cheap solution to get a big and decent mapholder on any kind of tankbag.

Any thoughts?

Just to let you all know that I buyed the big Ortlieb mapholder (size A3). Took of the cords and replaced them by thin bungee's and clips.
I can easely place any kind of map in the holder without distroying it by folding it small enough to fit in a small mapholder.
I place it over my tankbag and clip the bungees to the edge of the tank itself.
Sits tight, can see as much map as I want. Easely to take of. If you fold the map smart you can simply flip the whole thing when you ride of the edge.
Is totally waterproof. And think you can easily repair it with some pieces of ducktape.

Think this is a cheap and good answer if youre in need of a good mapholder. The only thing I am considering is reinforce the edges with ducktape.

Costed me around 25 Euro's.

Have a three day ride comming up next weekend. Will be the ultimate test, unless when it doesn't rain in Belgium. But that would be against the habit. :-)

Pieter.
