so.. dose the unit has this City navigation-NT 2010 already installed, or did you just read that of the box ?
in case the unit is equipped with a miniSD you may only got a 1GB card in it or less, with no maps at all, in that case you are running on the world basemap I presume...

Now just to let you know... the process of transferring all European maps to a 2GB miniSD last some 12 hours ! one reason why I bought the Garmin miniSD with the pre loaded maps in the end and not the DVD !

check out what is installed in the unit, there must be a point in the menu that is showing you what maps are active and you may find out that way what part is missing that coursing you headache...

I have it connected to my computer. The internal memory is about 4GB of which 2.5GB is used. This is the streetmaps for the UK and most of western Europe. but I am finding An unacceptable percentage of errors and omissions including spelling errors. Spelling errors are very bad because it cannot then find until you have figured out by continually trying different combinations for it to recognise a place. For instance I tried for over quarter of an hour to find St Jean pied de port. I have since found my home. It has misspelled the name by adding an S as the third letter wheras in fact there is no S in the name. Ie name is listed as nasme. Not helpful nor conducive to putting ANY trust it it whatsoever even when it appears to be working.

My guess is that there is a problem with your software map database that came with the unit... doesn't sounds like that there is the "city navigator-NT 2010" installed, some where in the system setup menu in the unit there must be a item called "MAPS", there you find a list that will tell you what kind of maps are on the chip and which are active or deactivated.
In case you got the "city navigator-NT 2010" on the chip which I don't think you have, look if you got the maps from Turkey, Greece, all the Baltic and most of the Balkan without Serbia and the Ukraine....
I agree bad spelling in a map address/database is not a trusty start off...

I followed its directions and it did get me nearly home today (5 mile journey), It has just got my place and the neighbouring farms name misspelled. Only found out by driving past it, when it put the wrong names up. :)
