Intl GPS waypoints, tracks

I am looking for gps waypoints for major roads and landmarks outside of n america and europe. This is not for a GPS unit but for a project for HU. I can also use GPS native files but it would require a lot more work to convert to text files.

I'm not really sure what you’re asking of us? A GPS coordinate of a road?? Which point along the road do you want a coordinate of?

This might be a obvious and stupid suggestion but have you tried GoogleEarth?

I can't use google earth now because it doesn't support Mac OS and I can't install outside programs on my PC at work. I am actively using google maps, but there is little data outside of the U.S.

What I need are long/lat points along major roads, end point, major change of direction. Not too much detail for now. I could use GPS tracks of roads also.

Thanks

I have a CD with about 2.9 million cities, villages and hamlets, arranged by country and sorted alphabetically. I run it off a browser. Combined with a world map on the GPS (Garmin Worldmap), this gives you enough to plot a few things and look at the high-level routes available on the GPS. The important thing is to KNOW where a place is located when you¡¦re somewhere unknown. That way you can be sure you¡¦re traveling in the right general direction at least ¡K ƒº

Is that CD on of the commercial mapping packages? I would be interested in what you are doing when you say run it off a browswer what map are you plotting those points to and what program is plotting it. Are you using garmin map together with a non garmin cd and plotting both on a browser based map?! Than would be very cool.
