GPS Maps

Source for Maps of remote areas (example Mongolia[will be moto trecking in July]) which Garmin and Garmin after market supplier do not make.
Even, for example, Garmin City Navigator Mexico, Turkey, etc. etc, etc do not have detailed coverage of many remote areas.
Any ideas.

Some parts are patchy. Not routable. Best you can get... depending on the area you are going to.
Lots of places don't have a lot of detail, nor do you need it.
Couple it with a paper map.

I find City Navigator Austraila to have enough detail in remote areas .. if you zoom in enough (scale 700metres on mapsource - detail highest). OK it misses some bits .. but so do teh other maps here too..

You'll not find much of anything for Mongolia - as I understand it .. not many roads at all .. just do straight line navigation like a ship at sea... There you are limited to either Garmins 'world map' or smellybikers 'Wanderlust' world map ...

GPS Maps

I appreciate the comments. Yes, Dead Reckoning does work. Set the coordinates, if you can, and head out across the vast nothingness.
