garmin zumo 550 vs bmw motorrad navigator III
am looking to buy a garmin but cant find the difference between the garmin zumo 550 vs bmw motorrad navigator III.
can anyone tell me are they the same device? just with bmw on it at a higher price. thanks tom

Not too sure but I think they both use the same software(MapSource compatible). I bought the Zumo550 and the one thing that I am sure about is the price! Garmin have just reduced the price on the Zumo by about $AU 300 which makes it a much more appealing buy.

I don't know about the BMW motorrad nav. but my ZUMO 550 is making a great job.
Remember expensive aquipment is not always the best. Anyway getting lost on a foregn country is the best way to explore her.

2820 and Motorrad Navigator 98% Identical
Hi There,

The StreetPilot 2820 and the Motorrad Navigator III are almost Identical (except for The Nav III hasn't the XM function. (To my knowledge. Neither the MP3 ) However volume control is in 1% jumps. As a kit in the UK it did include the bean bag car mount, the 12-volt power cable with speaker and a protective plastic screen

I've done a comparison of the Garmin StreetPilot 2820 and the Zumo 550 on Zumo 550 or SP 2820? - Motorcycle-Navigation.net

· Zumo uses Sirf III antenna so is better in cities or where there are lots of trees.
(For about 50 Euros you can buy an external antenns for the 2820 which improves it)
· Zumo interface is more friendly to beginners
· Zumo is less expensive than 2820
· Zumo has a battery built in (2820 requires external power to be available for use)

· 2820 has more Route option settings and generally more settings available than the Zumo
· 2820 can categorise favourite waypoints into groups, whereas the Zumo only stores them as favourites
· 2820 has a light sensor that automatically dims the display when you go into a tunnel, the Zumo does not
· 2820 has volume settings according to speed of travel (i.e. low, medium, high) the Zumo does not
· 2820 can load routes and track so that a track is also visible on the screen. With the Zumo you need to convert the track into a route before you can use it (meaning you might lose track information you wanted to keep)
· 2820 has route choice 'Fastest time' or 'Shortest Distnce' as prompted, so you can choose it as you set up navigation per route. The Zumo has this only as a unit setting for all routes
· 2820 screen quality is higher than Zumo
· 2820 has a QWERTY keyboard, the zumo uses ABCDE, which is not standard
· 2820 can set specific roads to be avoided, the zumo cannot.
· 2820 has additional compass features on screen that the Zumo doesn't
