Garmin TOPO Morocco

I had the chance to try Garmin Topo Morocco over the last couple of days and I'm very impressed, nearly all the tracks which are on Olaf are there and many more besides. It works fine with Mapsource but not nRoute (as far as I can tell) which is a shame for the Laptop users. A few screen shots if anyone is interested.

Replied to your other thread, remember this software will not work with a Laptop.

Olaf free map and a Garmin GPS plus nRoute could get you up and running for only £35 (ish)

I've looked at nRoute and can't figure out what it is supposed to do? Also, it looks like this Garmin Morocc topo product autoroutes? I guess it covers the whole country, but not clear...n Not sure if I understand why Olaf plus GPB35 is better than GPB55 (or whatever) for the Garmin map? The added functionality sure seems like it is worth GPB20.

Garmin Topo Morocco is £124 and will not work with nRoute, you will need a compatible stand a lone GPS say another £200.

Olaf map is free and works with nRoute which you can also get for free, load them onto a Laptop and buy a Garmin bluetooth GPS and you have a Morocco nav system for £35.

The Garmin Topo is routeable for main roads and if you're on a bike and or own a compatible GPS it maybe worth the cost of the software.

nRoute needs a map loaded to see what it does, it puts a cross where you are and you can follow a planned route, it is a bit old but very good when you get the hang of it, is also saves a track log of where you have been.

You really only need GPS in Morocco for the pistes, anyone who is sticking to roads doesn't need anything more than a £5 copy of Michelin 742 paper map.

It's difficult to judge from the screen shots but the piste coverage around Chefchaouen looks good and for £40 I might be tempted. But £124 is just not on.

It's a pity Olaf seems to have hung up his boots on the MarocTopo project, I have a ton of updates that could be incorporated.

Hmm, the websites I'm looking at show the Garmin Morocco Topo maps as $141, not GPB 124. I'd think about buying the map for the dollar price, but not for the GPB price...

There are 2 options to use the map on a laptop/PC:
1. convert the installed map from gmap format to the old img format that nRoute and old MapSource use (google for how to do it), and
2. get Garmin Mobile PC.

Thanks, Garmin Topo now works with nRoute.

Edit, link to guide GPS Australia - Make new format (Topo, gmp) Garmin Maps compatible with nRoute
